Overview

VLIRUOS awards full ICP Connect scholarships to applicants from 29 eligible countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America to attend accredited international study programmes taught in English at Flemish universities or universities of applied sciences and arts in Belgium. The scholarship covers tuition fees, travel, insurance, and living expenses for the full duration of the study programme (12, 24, or 36 months). Programmes include professional bachelors, initial masters, and advanced masters across fields such as environmental sciences, development studies, engineering, public health, and governance.

  • Must hold nationality from one of 29 eligible countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America
  • Must reside in one of the 29 eligible countries at time of application
  • Bachelor/initial master candidates cannot be older than 35 as of 1 January of intake year
  • Advanced master candidates cannot be older than 45 as of 1 January of intake year
  • Bachelor candidates must be at least 19 years old by 1 January of intake year
  • May apply for only one ICP Connect scholarship per year
  • Cannot receive any other scholarship or grant simultaneously
  • Cannot have previously received a scholarship from the Belgian government
  • Cannot have enrolled in a study programme at a Belgian higher education institution before 1 January of intake year
  • Preference given to candidates employed in higher education, government, or civil society
  • Must apply through the institution's website for both programme and scholarship
