Doctoral Networks fund international consortia of universities, research institutions, businesses, and other organisations to implement doctoral programmes training highly skilled PhD candidates across Europe and beyond. Recruited doctoral candidates receive EU-funded living and mobility allowances and may be of any nationality, provided they do not already hold a doctoral degree and comply with mobility rules. Candidates apply to individually advertised funded-project vacancies, primarily via the EURAXESS portal.

Must not have a doctoral degree at the date of recruitment
Should be enrolled in a doctoral programme during the project
Must comply with mobility rules: must not have resided or carried out main activity in the country of the recruiting organisation for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before recruitment date
For Industrial Doctorates: must spend at least 50% of time outside academia
For Joint Doctorates: must be enrolled in a joint programme and jointly supervised
